House Speaker Brian Egolf’s office says Representative Alonzo Baldonado handed in his resignation. There’s no official word on why the Republican from Valencia County made the decision. Baldonado has served since 2011.
Without providing a reason for his sudden resignation, the question is why Rep. Baldonado would leave the many residents of District 8 without representation for the upcoming legislative session in Santa Fe?
The citizens of District 8 deserve a voice and, after 11 years of service, the Republican has left us without representation. This highlights a major difference between the political parties. Democrats do not abandon their constituents without a very good reason, while Republicans will leave their constituents in the dark about why they would resign right before a legislative session.
When you are choosing who to support in our upcoming election, remember that your Republican candidates do not put you first, but your Democratic candidates will ALWAYS put YOU first!
For Democrats in Valencia County, this is an opportunity. If you are interested in being appointed to serve the remainder of the term for the now-open seat in District 8, we encourage you to send us an email or contact a DPVC leader.
We can help you with the process. You can reach us at the DPVC via email to: info@valenciademocrats.org
