Greetings Valencia Democrats!
Elections for our county’s State Delegates are now underway. If you registered to vote in your Ward, you should have received an email with a link to your ballot.
There are two types of ballots: Rank Choice and Acclamation.
In those Wards where there are more Delegate Candidates than there are Delegate positions available, you have a Rank Choice Ballot. You also received an email with a four-digit PIN so your ballot can be kept secret. You will need to enter your four-digit PIN when you fill out your ballot. Then, you will rank your choices in order of your preference on the ballot. In some cases, you rank the top three, while in others it is the top seven. You must choose a candidate for all the available ranks before you can submit your ballot, choosing a different candidate for each rank.
We use Rank Choice Ballots to avoid a run-off or tie-breaker. All the candidates who do not get enough votes to be selected will become an Alternate Delegate.
In some Wards, there are exactly as many candidates as there are positions available. In this case, voters simply need to ACCEPT the candidates who volunteered to be considered. This is the equivalent of everyone present saying “Aye” at a meeting, which is why no PIN is needed (and you did not receive one).
For the Acclamation Ballot, simply enter the email you used to register, vote either ACCEPT or ABSTAIN and digitally sign your full name. We still need you to vote to affirm the delegates in your ward, so please take 30 seconds and complete the ballot.
(NOTE: A vote to ABSTAIN is saying you choose not to vote. In an acclamation vote, where the winners are pre-determined, this is how you would vote against the slate of Delegates.)
I believe I can speak for everyone when I say how proud I am of our DPVC membership and especially those who volunteered to stand as Delegate Candidates in their Ward. We have such thoughtful, engaged, considerate, and informed citizens in our party! It was a joy to hear so many of you speak about your commitment to serving your country and your party as an engaged participant. Thank you to all of you, Electors and Candidates, for bringing your “A-Game” to our party!
If you can not find your Delegate Ballot and/or PIN, please send me an email. Remember, if you open your ballot and it says “Acclamation Ballot”, you were NOT sent a PIN and should not expect to have received a PIN.
Video recordings of each of the three Ward Meetings, including statements from Delegate Candidates and Candidates for Office, are available on our website. Click here to view them and scroll to the bottom of the page.
The deadline to submit your ballot is 11:59 pm this Thursday, February 10, 2022.
Finally, if you did not register to be a part of your Ward Delegate Election process, we are sorry that you missed out.
