Here’s a bit of New Mexico political trivia. When was the last time a Republican was elected as NM State Auditor?
The answer, according to New Mexico Politico Joe Monohan is that “no Republican has been elected since 1970 when Harold Thompson completed his second two-year term.”
That’s a 52 years stretch of wins for the Dems, about to become a 56-year stretch. This means that the victor in the June 7 Democratic Primary will be effectively elected. The Democrats have posted two solid contenders, Joseph Maestas and Zack Quintero.
Both candidates made great presentations at the DPVC Convention last month. We do not pick favorites here at the DPVC and what a relief that is, since that task would be ridiculously difficult! It does make the contest all the more important for Democratic Primary voters.
We encourage all Valencia Democrats to learn about both of our outstanding candidates. Their websites are linked below.
