Yesterday, June 24th, the Valencia County Democrats held our annual Women’s March in Belen. The turnout was very good and the community support was encouraging. The march was held to commemorate the 1st anniversary of the Dobbs decision which overturned nearly 50 years of precedent on women’s reproductive rights.

Now, in at least 25 states abortion access is either completely or mostly restricted, and more bans are coming. As Democrats, we will always stand with women, the LGBTQIA+ community, minorities, and everyone who is oppressed, underrepresented, and downtrodden. Yesterday’s march was just one example, and there will be many more coming.

We ended our Women’s March on Becker Ave. so that we could show support for the Rainbow Art Walk, This is the 3rd year for this Pride-friendly art exhibit and it was a perfect capstone to the day.
