In the race for Vice Chair of the Democratic Party of Valencia County we did not have a candidate who received a “majority of all votes cast”. There were 49 ballots sent out and 31 people voted or 63%.
The results were:
- Abstain – 1 vote
- Torres Leyba – 6 votes
- Michael Melendez – 9 votes
- Deirdra Velasquez – 15 votes
We will have a runoff election between Deirdra and Michael. Please be on the lookout for more information regarding that vote. Please note, we use ElectionBuddy which is an electronic voting system, the ballots and reminders will go to your email, or your cell phone so please make sure you are checking those.

The question, “Should the CCC adopt the rules change allowing the President of the Valencia County Federation of Democratic Women a voting seat on our Executive Committee should they elect to accept it and to make the Officer positions of Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer voting positions?” passed with 90% of the votes cast.
- Yes – 27 votes
- No – 3 votes
- Abstain – 1 vote
